This event more than lived up to expectations with a full house and full programme, comprising three superb support acts by a selection of the club’s regular’s and a first rate performance by the star of the night, Reg Meuross, who proved equally at home performing to a Roadwater audience as at the Albert Hall
John (the host) opened the evening with his own composition, ‘Memories’ followed by Ben Banks who put on a tremendous performance including one of his own songs about a lost love (his motorbike).
Reg then introduced a fantastic first set covering a selection of songs from his album ‘Dragonfly’ including the epic song ‘and Jesus Wept’ and from his new album to be released in August ‘ All this Longing’.
After the interval a 4 piece band ‘Jackie’s Kitchen’ took the floor. The members of this band (Don, Jackie, Paul and Tria) met at the performance club and started playing together in Jackie’s kitchen, hence the name. Don was unable to be present but the remainder with help from Paul's son Robbie standing in rallied to the occasion and gave us four tremendous songs.
After which Reg returned for his second set as good as the first involving the audience singing the choruses to ‘It’s Me or Elvis’ and ‘Birmingham Hotel’. Reg finally left the stage to rounds of tumultuous applause and a general sense was had by all that it had been a great evening.
Thanks to all involved, performers, audience, and helpers, for making this such a good night.
