Back by popular request

Brooks Williams performed for us at the Luxborough Village Hall last year when the Roadwater Hall was out of action being refurbished. The event was so popular it sold out early so some of you missed out seeing this truly outstanding performer, plus several of you who did get to see him were so bowled over you asked to have him back.

So, by popular request, we have invited Brooks for a return visit this time to perform at the Roadwater Village Hall.

To put icing on the cake, we have also been fortunate enough to secure The Boys From Melbourne Street. This trio have headlined for us before and, again, many people asked us to have them back.

We are very much looking forward to a hearing Brooks Williams’ latest songs in March (as well as hearing old favourites such as Baby O) and to seeing the fabulous Boys from Melbourne Street and hope you will be able to join us.

BROOKS WILLIAMS

Brooks Williams is one of the most commanding performers on the acoustic Roots and Blues scene and has been ranked one of the top 100 Acoustic Artists in the world.

Born in Georgia USA, now resident in Cambridge UK, Brooks Williams is a musician of staggering depth and breadth, renowned for his phenominal guitar playing, his rich and silky voice, and captivating  songs

For 25 years Brooks has has been wowing audiences worldwide, every night delivering the deepest and most intense interpretations of everything from early blues to inventive covers and his original compositions.

americanaUK says about Brooks “It goes without saying that he is an absolute master with a six string but Williams’ talent doesn’t end there. He is personable and funny and easy to relate to when he shares anecdotes in between songs, which are themselves catchy and upbeat. On top of it all he has a beautiful voice that you just melt into. Brooks Williams is impossible not to like."

With 18 recordings already to his name Brooks is currently working on a new solo album as well as a collaborative venture with the cult British singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine. The collaboration between Williams and Hewerdine has produced one of the year’s must-have albums ‘State of the Union’ shortly to be released on Reveal Records. This powerful recording features stunning originals by Brooks including Three Little Words, Union, Jackie and Darkness, as well as songs co-authored by the duo.

A respected teacher and writer, Brooks Williams is a regular contributor to Acoustic magazine, where he writes articles on touring, performing and guitar technique.

THE BOYS FROM MELBOURNE STREET

The Boys From Melbourne Street’s unusual sound and fusion of folk/pop/jazz/rock styles that seem to merge throughout each song has earned them increasing acclaim in the music world over the past 8 years.

Colin, Dave and Keith came together in December 2003 releasing their first CD “Songs From The Heart” through Tabitha Records in November 2004.

”Songs from the Heart” was picked up by a few independent record shops and a number of downloading companies as well as being played on BBC Radio several times and “Critical Radio U.S.A. One of the tracks was also featured as song of the day on UK Sounds, USA Sounds and OZ Sounds, which gave their music worldwide exposure.

They successfully reached the semi finals of the British Songwriters Competition with a song from their latest CD “If I lost My Mobile” a rocky little number which strangely, edged itself into the folk category, so pick your own genre and it you will be able to find it in the music somewhere.

They have now written, recorded and produced 3 albums to date "Songs From The heart" "Carpe Diem" and " A Walk In The Park" .
